Woman Suffering from Migraines Are More Likely To Be Depressed

Patients suffering from headache, specifically migraine disorder, are more inclined to suffer from depression disorder, feel fatigued, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical investigation published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical research involved 1080 man who buy cymbalta at headache clinics in three US states. Of the patient tested, 116 reported incidental headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 439 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were diagnosed with migraines.

The medical investigation found patient with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also six times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among man diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the medical research found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the women also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms could stir up or be a manifestation of major Major Depression in man with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Manic Depression may heighten pain perception,” said study author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a ordinary neurobiology.”

Tietjen says clinical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Heedless of what’s causing the link between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Atypical Depression complicates headache management and can rouse poorer consequences for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The medical trial was helped, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American women suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 20000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating man care through instruction and clinical study. A neurologist is a doctor with a wide knowladge of diagnosing, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and repeated sclerosis.
